Since the beginning of the 20th century, the city has once again been part of its glamor, being a maritime transit center for agricultural and livestock products in the province of Mylopotamos. Large warehouses were built there for this purpose. The city also had a primary school, a semi-gymnasium, which was founded in 1917 and operated in 1918, it was the seat of the Peace Court and the Gendarmerie substation.
